The Three Realms

Rs.14,500 Inc. Tax

Lord Shiva has been depicted in this picture in his most well known form that of Nataraja, his arms and legs raised in the ferocious poises of the dance incited of great anger. The space has been divided in to three particular parts. Two of these parts are depicted in sky blue depicting realms of the skies while the third is depicted in green. This represents the nature of the earth. However, the division of the space in to three parts may be a result of another interpretation as well. Here the division may have been used to depict the three realms that are usually associated with the life of a human being. These are heaven, earth and hell. The earth may be represented as the green space of nature where Nataraja crushes an infant under his feet with the ferocious poise of the angry dance. In fact, the dance incited by anger of Nataraja caused the inhabitants of the earth to suffer and be crushed under his feet. The two other spaces are depicted in blue in order to symbolize them as being outside the realm of the earth. The hands of the Nataraja with different objects spread out in to these spaces.
