The Realization of Enlightenment

Rs.12,000 Inc. Tax

The Tibetan form of the Buddha is clearly discernible from the Indian because of its long ears. This is the central point that is also similar to the Cambodian form of the Buddha as well as many other models found in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia among others. The depiction of the Buddha is usually made in white in order to render a sense of blissful peace to the painting. Moreover, this painting depicts the Buddha in the classical poise of the mediation with the hands of the Buddha folded on his lap and his back straight. The light at the head of the Buddha signifies the attainment of salvation and enlightenment. This is associated with the attainment of pure revelation through knowledge and understanding. Hence, this painting is also emblematic of the sense of peace and inner happiness. These are the emotions that the painting tries to invoke within its viewers and is successful. Ultimately it becomes a work of heightened perfection in this respect. There is no particular background to the portrait. There is simply a backdrop composed of a single tone, keeping in accordance with the theme of simplicity and scarcity, placing the focus on the central object only.
