The Glass Ganesha

Rs.5,200 Inc. Tax

The traditional figure of the Ganesha has been used to add elements that are completely new in order to explore beyond the usual boundaries and horizons. Hence, here too even with certain elements of the classical such as the mouse and the tilak, the viewer is faced with a deity that has two hands. It too explores creativity through symmetry with many geometric figures constituting the entire mass of the figure. However, what is most important is the production of the space. This space has been divided according to the perception. It has a simple backdrop of a single shade. However, a number of lines are depicted over the Ganesha. This brings to the viewers an illusion of a glass door partitioning the space between the subject and the object. The deity seems to be pressing on to this glass space. It is a direct acknowledgement of the superficiality of the world of aesthetics, something that abstract art constantly tries to achieve within its own sphere. In fact, the symmetry in the painting is a reminder of such abstract art. Thus, the painting constantly tries to return to such roots of abstract aesthetics, a result of the modernity of the prevalent times.
