The Child Avatar

Rs.12,000 Inc. Tax

The Lord Krishna has been portrayed in a variety of forms in different parts of India and the different legends that are associated with these regions. These different forms are now embedded as different images within the common Indian psyche. Among these one of the most popular images is that of Krishna as a naughty child, or in other words as Gopal. Gopal is the naughty child who steals curd with his friends. There are a great number of stories associated with this particular form of the divine avatar. The image of Krishna on one of his friend’s shoulders, reaching out to steal some curd is one of the most popular and recognizable ones. In this picture special attention has been paid to the perspective, much like it usually is in most pictures that depict one scene, especially from a Hindu or a western legend. The space has been well developed with a checkered floor and balustrades and pillars. Moreover, the monkey at the corner and the women at the back serve the purposes of the perspective, in order to develop a clear sense of the division of the space in to three discernible halves. A myriad of colors have been used with strokes that are blended completely.
