Principle of Divinity

Rs.12,000 Inc. Tax

The painting shows two different elements of the divine in the popular notions of Hinduism. However, these elements have been taken out of their traditional conceptions and images to be portrayed in a completely new light. The painting aims to involve separate elements to combine one harmonious whole. Here, the viewer sees the Lord Ganesha, who is the God of wealth and prosperity. However, certain elements of his traditional image are missing from the portrait. He is seen wearing a different costume. Instead of sitting he stands, with a musical instrument in his hand rather than the usual. His pet mouse is not seen in the picture. Instead the user finds a cow that looks from behind the folds of his clothes. In fact, the cow is considered to be auspicious according to Hindu mythology as well as Hindu religious believes. Hence, the cow can be considered to be a symbol of the divinity as well. The background has been constructed as a constructed space of bamboo and woods with bells hanging from the ceiling. Hence, it almost seems as if the Lord Ganesha is standing inside a stable for cows, thus complete transferring the space and the platform of portrayal.
