Love in Divinity

Rs.14,500 Inc. Tax

Most people are familiar with the classical image of Radha along with Krishna in various stages of amour and love. However, this particular painting brings to life the sensuality that is an evident part of the mythology. Here Krishna is situated behind, playing his flute, clearly directed at an angle towards Radha. Here the flute has been used as a device replete with the signification of seduction. Radha coyly turns away from Krishna, with her gazes directed down and a peacock feather in her hand. Her figure is more demure and shy. It brings to mind the traditional Indian reception of love and the concepts that are formed around this reception. The duo stands beside a tree on a green background, connotative of the open air space that they share. It brings an element of freedom in to the love that they engage in. Again, most of the painting has been done in colors that may also be used as connotative signifiers in the popular Indian notions. These include gold and yellow, blue, red, green and so on. This particular painting brings to mind the philosophy of Bhaktism, where revelation of the Lord is through mystic, erotic love between the lovers.
