Gateway of India

Rs.14,500 Inc. Tax

This is a painting of the Gateway of India that was very common during the days of the monarchy as well as the feudal system in India. The basic Indian structures of the dome shaped towers and the minars are clearly visible. What is depicted is the central gate of the palace. This was usually the gate that was constructed in front, at Delhi, the capital of India. It would have a big portico or an open space with the huge structure all around it. Another every interesting part of the picture is the stairs that would usually descend in to a water body consisting of a number of floating boats. In fact, such stairs with a water body in front of the huge structure were common parts of the old structures of the Indian palaces. These are visible in many pictures and videos of such spaces that have been recorded. Most of the color scheme consists of yellows and browns with shades of black. It has been kept very earthy and neutral. The color scheme lends an almost sepia effect to the painting that is successful brings out the old world charm in the image. This is very difficult to do unless it is a photograph.
