Ganesha in Prayer

Rs.15,500 Inc. Tax

This is a picture that is quiet different and in many ways very novel in its approach of the classical rohstoff that is available to the painter. Here, Ganesha, the God of wealth and prosperity sits but not in his usual posture. He sits with his two hands on the lingam, a form of the God Shiva that many Hindus are acquainted with and worship. Lord Shiva is also considered to be Ganesha’s father according to certain tales of Hindu mythology. Here, the son sits with his father as if asking for his blessings. In fact, the lingam is generally worshipped by placing ones hands on it and praying for blessings. There is a prayer bell hanging and a hut that can be seen through the haze. However, even though the space that has been constructed has perspective, it is a very unusual space. There is a lot of smoke or clouds that is depicted in midnight blue giving the sensation of night time. Hence, it may be considered that the space depicted is that of Mount Kailash, the official abode of Shiva. The picture portrays a son with his father praying for blessings with a surrealist touch of the brush.
