Buddha in Monochrome

Rs.14,500 Inc. Tax

The painting is that of a divine Buddha. Here the Buddha has been portrayed away from the traditions of realism. This portrayal of the Buddha is indeed very common. The Buddha is usually portrayed in a very surrealistic manner by establishing a direct link with the divine. Here the focus is on the face of the Buddha only. An element of the peaceful and the selfless has been tried to be portrayed through the face of the Buddha. He has been depicted in one single shade throughout. The third eye is half closed and half open. The lips of the Buddha are broken in to a peaceful smile that is denotative of his peace as well as his detachment. The peaceful gaze of the Buddha falls directly on the viewer. There is a lotus placed in front of his face at a level that is lower than his eyes. The lotus is also considered to be a signifier of the peace and bliss. Some elements of the traditional have been portrayed in the picture including the curling hair and the long ears. However, most of the elements of the picture have been conceived by the painter in order to give some form to the painter’s imagination and conception.
