Bodhisattva Images

This painting depicts the side or the angular face of the Buddha from a place much lower than the face. This angle is usually not found in paintings. Although, at times the angle can be located in certain photographs, in paintings this is considered to be extremely uncommon. The Buddha seems to be painted traditionally from what can be seen in the picture. He has his eyes closed in meditation as usual. His hands are folded in a mudra. This particular mudra is also the sign of blessing by the Buddha. In fact, from the angle that it has been painted it, the Buddha seems to be gigantic and much larger than what a viewer usually sees in such statues and images. The main focus of attention is the Buddha himself. There are a few leaves visible in the background made from a brown shade. In fact, the Buddha too has been painted in an earthy tone. Minimal colors have been used to keep with the simple design and rendition of the painting. However, not much of the background can be seen. Only the foreground remains in view and focuses. However, even though the shape has been played around with the perspective is perfect.
