Avatar of Love

Krishna, as the legend goes according to Hindu mythology, is seen in a number of forms in different parts of India during different periods of time. The portrait of Krishna concentrates on him as the avatar of love. This form or image of Krishna is deeply associated with the Bhakti movement that began in the Northern regions of India and slowly spread to the Southern regions. Here, the god is seen as the divine incarnation in the human form. Revelation is attained through erotic and mystic love with the avatar according to this particular tradition. Thus, in the picture Krishna stands in a poise that is embedded in the common Indian psyche of millions of minds in India. He holds his flute poised, while Radha stands at his side and both of them are flanked by two gopis, ready to serve. Animals that are commonly associated with Hindu mythology and are often used as mass signifiers such as the deer and the peacock can also be seen at their side. This is an image that has been recreated from the classical in a sublime manner. A lot of detail has been paid to the ideas of perceptions and the background.
